Hi All,
I know I am getting better at this photo restoration lark - but someone has just given me this little number - which although I will have a go at myself - might be beyond me - can you all please have a go and see what you can do with it.
Cheers
Keith

I wouldn't do a thing to it. There is so much information shown. To alter it would spoil it. Patricia

Hmm, that wheel is gonna be a killer!
As for the rest of it, the chap on the left's lobotomy will need to be reversed, and it'll need a bit of a tweak, but should be fun to have a go at.
I'll give it a bash when I get home

Hi All,
Thanks for that Sharon - yep I wondered about the wheel - looks brilliant though - well done .
Looking forward to your version Glen
Just a small aside - My Great granduncle (well that's what my software calls him!) Arthur Gates b 1861 d 1938 - left some joiner's tools behind - my brother is trying to find them at the moment, carved with his name on them. I think one was a plane - wonder if it was similar to the ones in the photo!!??
Shows you where this family history takes you doesn't it - my mother's side of the family were Papermakers and her mother's side were all Joiners/cabinetmakers - so having some more research to do here - look out for the end results on my website
Thanks again for any help
Keith

Hi Keith, I wondered where my bicycle wheel had got to. Jones the search. We do not alter the original. We are only amending copies. as soon as the picture is posted it is effectively a copy. Keith, in all likelihood the plane will be exactly the same. Most hand tools until fairly recently, differed very little to to those used in Roman times. I used to use planes like that when I took woo working lessons ( With varying degrees of success) I do so love these pictures. Tomkin

Stunning Sharon Well done . What editing prog are you using? I wish I could repair my old photos. I seem to manage some but others just elude me. I must get around to following Glens tutoral Perhaps I should try and find a course. Patricia

Hi All,
Patricia - as Tomkin says I will still have the original - but think to see the picture as it was made to be seen would be great! It has helped me a little this site for tutorials: http://graphicssoft.about.com/od/photoshop/l/bllps5pre.htm But also do Glen's colour version as well.
You pick up bits from everywhere - we all learn from each other on here as well - I am struggling the get the wheel spokes to look anything like at the moment - Now which bit has Sharron used - ahh I see right
Tomkin I've heard of a pennyfarthing - but if that's your wheel you must have a halfcrown/florin And don't just look at it - do something with it
The plane does remind me of school days - just after this photograph was taken I think though!
Cheers
Keith

Hi Keith, You haven't seen my bike. Thighs like a cart horse mate. At the moment I am transcribing and uploading 1862 Death transcripts to freeBMD. I like to do a set number each week but I've been a bit poorly so I've fallen behind. As soon as I get a chance I'll be there pal. Had a quick look though at a book I have, which shows all the types of cartwheels, their construction etc. They are a lot more sophisticated than you think. Fascinating stuff. Tomkin

What is more amazing is that it took you less than 2 hours, I would have spent days on it - and then not have done nearly as good a job. Just remind us Sharon - how long have you been doing this? you have a natural ability.
