Hello!
Interested in HEARNE/HEARN/HERN/HERNE, etc., from Thorpe Market in late 1700s, early 1800s.
Joseph, b. 1790, is listed as from Thorpe Market on most censuses, but from North Repps on one.
The following family appears in Thorpe Market at the right time, but Joseph's birth is not in PR.
Thomas and Sarah HERNE (although last name spelled variously for each birth), parents of
Elisabeth, August 1791 Hannah, 9 Nov 1794 Thomas, 31 Jan 1798 Philip, 3 Mar 1800 William and Charlotte, born 26 Mar 1813, bap. 27 Mar 1813
Any information about this family would be very much appreciated.

Next door (on the same page as above):
1851 HO107/1809/128/8 Thorpe Market, Norfolk Mary Hern, head, wid, 45, fo??nly labourers wife, b. Southrepps, Norfolk John Hern, son, unmar, 25, labourer, b. Thorpe Market Hanah Hern, dau, unmar, 23, fo??nly labourer, b. Thorpe Market William Hern, son, unmar, 22, ditto , b. Thorpe Market George Her, son, unmar, 16, ditto , b. Thorpe Market
For the life of me, I cannot work out what sort of labourer they were. My first thought was that it said 'family labourer' but son John is labelled with just 'labourer'. Maybe someone else can work out what it is.
1851 HO107/1761/354/25 Horseheath Lodge, Horseheath, Cambridgshire (Duxford Sub-District) Thomas Hern, servt, unmar, 53, servant, b. Thorpe, Norfolk
Horseheath Lodge has over a page full of servants, a trainer, stable boys - must have been a largish establishment - horse racing perhaps??
 K.
