Problem configuring phpgedview Again
« on: Friday 10 March 06 19:09 GMT (UK) »

Hi Trystan,

I have had to delete my phpgedview and reinstall due to someone hacking in and defacing it, now I am having problems configuring it, the following message keeps coming up:

Warning: fopen(./index/authenticate.php): failed to open stream: Permission denied in /home/vhosts/gordon-beaney.rootschat.net/phpGedView/authentication_index.php on line 301

Warning: fwrite(): supplied argument is not a valid stream resource in /home/vhosts/gordon-beaney.rootschat.net/phpGedView/authentication_index.php on line 302

Warning: fclose(): supplied argument is not a valid stream resource in /home/vhosts/gordon-beaney.rootschat.net/phpGedView/authentication_index.php on line 303

Please would you mind helping me and suggest what I can do to provent this from happening again.

Kind Regards,

Gordon.

Which version are you using? If v3, index or db files?

Ooops, sorry, you are obviously using v3 in index mode. In that version, the user list is stored in the index sub-folder...and it is a good idea to set the permissions (chmod) for that folder, and its contents, to 666 (or 777 if you want). The error message you are getting tells me that the system can't open, write to and close the user list.
