Woodford
« on: Sunday 03 October 04 22:21 BST (UK) »

I am researching the Woodford family who lived in Beaulieu and Boldre (New Forest).  Has anyone come across the birth of Matthew Woodford probably around 1715?
Look forward to hearing from anyone else researching this family

Hi there,

Matthew Woodford is not recorded on BVRI2.  I have found his burial in 1804 in Beaulieu at the age of 89, but I think you may have those details.

Hi Nell,
Many thanks for taking the trouble to look for Matthew in BVRI 2.  Yes, I have his burial and marriage.  No sign of his baptism.  I do know that is recorded as saying "when I came into the country in 1740".  So he could have been born anywhere.  Does anyone have any ideas?

Sorry I can't help you, but maybe you can help this newbie.  I have a JOHN WOODFORD, bmd unknown, married to Anne Harris.  They had 2 boys (that I know of), JOHN, b. unknown & MATHEW, b. 14 Aug. 1774.  Any link?

Hi Neil,
         Good to hear from you.
John was Matthew's eldest son.  If you ever find the marriage of John and Anne it would make me very happy.  They lived in Norley Wood.  Will send you a personal message.

I too am desperately trying to find the marriage of Anne Harris and John Woodford.  At the moment though I am drawing complete frustrating blanks.  The other children they had that I have found to date are William and Mary.

The New Forest Proceedings state that John and Mathew came to the forest some fifty years prior to the proceedings, so it looks as though I need to be finding where they came from!

Any help anyone can throw my way would be greatly appreciated as I have been looking for them for five years now!

Many Thanks

Emma
