Hi Brian,
Not wishing to gripe, but when you scan can
you make sure the photo is straight on the platen.
Sometimes we have to crop detail off so we can
straighten it.

Tomkin, do you have  a means of image rotation with your software?
I think with the horse and cart I rotated it about four degrees, to straighten the edges.

            Yes I have mate. But on my old setup, which I used for years,
I didn't have.Others wanting to have a go may not have. It is also
another task to do which is not necessary.If Brian saves his imagesand puts on a slide show for his nearest and dearest, they will all end up with stiff necks. It's
a good job that he comes from Whitely Bay ( where years ago I spent many
happy hours,  I don't suppose Idols or the Rex is still open?) or I might have
had to castigate him.  "CASTIGATE"- Liverpool Annie.  I'll tell you some day Brian
about when I ascended to the top of the lighthouse.

Idols is still open but its called Y-Idols now
The Rex Hotel is still open but it has numerous different named bars inside Jimmyz, Deep(I think)etc. cant remember the rest
