BORN 1821 , PARTICULARLY INTERESTED IN HIS BIRTHPLACE NEWTOWN, CO. WESTMEATH. IRELAND. AS I WOULD LIKE TO ASCERTAIN WHO HIS FATHER WAS.

FIRST RECORDED 1851 ENGLAND CENSUS AGED 30
                             1861    "              "                  40
                             1871   "              "                   50 THEN  MARRIED  TO ANNIE OF AXBRIDGE, SOMERSET ALSO SAYS STOCKBRIDGE, HANTS 2 YR OLD SON

                     IN    1881 TWO MORE SONS ARE MENTIONED.

I AM DESPERATE TO FIND A RECORD OF MARRIAGE AS THIS WAY I COULD FIND HIS FATHER'S NAME.  ANY HELP PLEASE MOST APPRECIATED.

Hiya Jilly,

The Griffith Valuation extracts on John Hayes website show one Johnston from Newtown was listed when the Valuation took place in Westmeath in 1854.

Fineas Johnston, Tyrrelispass, Ballykilmore Village, Newtown

Thanks again Christopher,  Since my first message I have obtained a marriage cert and it says Robert's father was a William Johnston so I still have not got much to go on.  I have found Fineas but no further references to him. I think this must be some relation, as no other Johnstons' have come to light.
