Lockerbie, Gelkerst at Bryecroft ?? 1807

In a book " Edwardsburg Families history" Ontario James Lockerbie is stated to be born on April 9, 1807 - as the son of James Lockerbie and Jean Gelcerst, in Bryecroft, Scotland.  Is this in the Dumfries area??

He married Mary Ann Pearson and they traveled to Ontario about 1840.

Would anyone be able to do a marriage lookup. James and May Ann's 1st daughter was Elizabeth born 1829 so they must have been married 1827, 1828.   Any hints or help would be appreciated.

cant fine a marriage but try this site for the 1851 census where Lockerbie family listed

Gelcerst is an interesting name.  Could it be a variant of Gilchrist?  Gilchrist is a known name of the area.
