Bury St Edmonds - BRAME/BRAHAM
« on: Wednesday 15 March 06 22:28 GMT (UK) »

Hello - I am from "Down Under" (Oz) and am hoping someone in the Suffolk area may be willing and able to find a little bit of information for me.......

I have searched everything I can think of from afar, and am about to give up  Sad

MARRIAGE FOR: BRAME/BRAHAM, William and wife (name not known) pre 1827

BIRTHS/BAPTISMS: Possible children prior to 1827 when I believe the wife died as there is a MARRIAGE in Berden, Essex for a man of his name where he is shown as a widower, to a Sarah KNIGHT.

** The names I am hoping to locate are of 2 daughters - Sarah and Rebecca...... **

(they may be born to William and first wife, William and Sarah - or possibly to either wife prior to marriage)

If I could just find a Sarah and a Rebecca born approx. 1820 - 1827.......

I know - complicated isn't it?  That's why, having looked for so long,  I'm asking for someone to help.......

DEATH: BRAHAM, wife prior to 1827

BIRTHS/BAPTISMS: Possible children to William and Sarah 1820/27

Looking forward hopefully to someone having the time and being willing to do this look-up for me.

Barbara
You would need to check this back as its a LDS submitted record but here is info on IGI

Sarah Ann Brame b abt 1827
married 24 Jun 1847 to James Ely (b abt 1823), Shotley, Suffolk
Fathers are William Brame and John Ely - no mention of mother's names.

Their children are
James William Ely b 12 Dec 1847, Shotley
Thomas Henry Ely b 13 Mar 1849

There are three possibilities for a marriage in Suffolk for William Brame/Braham as follows:

1) William Brame/Elizabeth Cooper
9 Nov 1815, Suffolk

2) William Braham/Hannah Wolton
27 Jul 1819, Eyke, Suffolk

3) William Brame/Mary Ann Seeley
10 Jul 1826 Horningsheath, Suffolk

Hope its helped,
Claudia

Just a thought  Wink

Horningsheath - which is now known as Horringer is a sort of suburb nowadays of Bury St Edmunds.  It is only a couple of miles from the town.

Saw your post re: Brame family.  A contact of mine has a Ruby Mable Brame, born 24 May 1920.  Not certain where she was born but married in Ipswich in April 1939 to Geoge Henry Grimwood.  They had nine children - all born in Ipswich .  TERENCE, PETER, WILLIAM, GEOFREY, PAULINE, ROSEMARY(ROSIE), MARY, SUSAN AND STEVEN.  Susan emigrtarted to the USA but not known when.  If this is your family we would be pleased to hear from you.  Regards Maeve

Hi Maeve (must say I love your name - never had a daughter, but it would have been a favourite if I had!)
Thanks for your message, but I have to say the time line is nowhere near anyone in the past family of my husband that relates to my query on the BRAME/BRAHAM line.
I am looking for people way back at the early 1800's and am beginning to realise that this probably a connection we're never going to find.
Thanks again

Thanks for your reply.  Sorry to hear we do not have a match.  Regarding my name Maeve.  Sorry to dissapoint you but it is only a "User name".  How did I get it?  Well, we were watching a TV programme about Celitic Tribes and one of the women, - called Maeve - was a Warrior Tribal Queen.  She spent most of her time bashing her enemies over the head with whatever came to hand, and her husband seemed to bear the brunt of it.  My husband laughed his head off and said it sounded like me, so the name stuck.  Regards Maeve
