I am looking for any information about a ROY HURST last known to have lived in Chalfont St. Giles in Bucks. in the early 1990s. He carried out extensive research into the Hurst family and organised annual get togethers of Hurst family members, I have copies of some of his research, but am unable (as yet) to properly tie in the branch of which I an a member. My family lived in Great Haseley then Great Milton. I would be grateful for anyone who knew Roy (I fear he may now have died) to get in touch. Also any information about John Hurst born 1855 and Blacksmith at Great Haseley and his parents/grandparents. I believe his father may have also been named John and was born around 1808.
Here is John Hurst with his family on the 1861 census Ref: RG9/885 Folio 57
John Hurst Head 53 b Gt Haseley Blacksmith Mary Wife 51 b Pastcombe Elizabeth Dau 11 b Gt Haseley John Son 6 b Gt Haseley Rectory, Gt Haseley, Oxfordshire Reg Dist: Thame

That was a quick reply! Many thanks willow2670. Looks like the older children had moved on during the 10 year period and another arrived. I notice that Mary (wife) has changed where she was born. Do you happen to know if Linknor and Postcombe are part of the same place or perhaps adjoining? Roger (ps the cat logo is great!!)
Thank you all for your help. I can now try to move backwards a generation to try to locate John's (born app1808) parents and then to try to link into the information I have from Roy Hurst. His info goes back a long way (1550) so it would be really exciting to get that link! I am looking at a possible link to a Richard Hurst who was also a Blacksmith and died in 1731. I believe his father was Thomas Hurst (1630-1679) also a Blacksmith. Roy's documents are very complex but contain lots of information.
