Great Granddad John Angus Sutherland (1875-1963)
|
Hi, a relative of mine, William Sutherland (born in Brora, near Golspie, in 1845) moved to Fife and basically started my family. We don't know anything about him, really, and I'd like to find out about his life in Brora, and hopefully who his parents were etc. Oh, he was married to Elizabeth Mowat.
Any ideas on what to look for, or anyone got any info on this?

I can only find one marriage.
William Sutherland and Elizabeth Mowat
21 JAN 1875

Caithness, Scotland
Husband Age at Marriage: 27
Wife Age at Marriage: 22
I found only 1 William Sutherland with wife Elizabeth in Fife on the 1881 Census. His place of birth was transcribed as "Scrathron" Caithness, although I believe it is Latheron.

The only suggestion I can give, is if you know when his children were born, check the birth certificate for the date of William and Elizabeth's marriage, and then you can check the marriage certificate for names of parents.
