DAVIES' in Suffolk early 1800's

Hi there,
Can anyone tell me if there were many families in Suffolk with the name Davies in the early 1800's, as I am looking for a John Davies who aged 50 on the 1851 census Hyde, Cheshire says he was born in Ipswich Suffolk.
I have checked the IGI and can only find one born in 1804 Bury St Edmunds son of John Davies and Mary Baker.
I have also been looking on the genuki site where there is a Trade Directory and includes only one Davies (from B St Ed) and also on a list of Suffolk Surnames there is also only  one Davies listed (from B st Ed)
What do you think?
