I am the great great grandson of Harriet Frame born 3rd May 1870, daughter of Thomas (Watchmaker) and Annie Preston who were married in Hutchesontown, Glasgow 20th Nov 1863. Think i need to go to Edinburgh to find more or if someone can advise me on the best online family tree research

Hi TamH,
Welcome to RootsChat.
Just to get you started, this is the 1881 census entry for the family:
121 Gairbraid St, Maryhill, Lanark (GROS Ref 622-1 ED 9 p 26) Thomas Frame Head M age 39 Watchmaker b Thornliebank, Renfrew Annie Frame Wife M 37 b Glasgow Robert Frame son 14 Watchmaker's apprentice b Glasgow Harriet Frame daughter 10 scholar b Tillicoultry, Clackmannan Annie Frame daughter 9 scholar b Paisley, Renfrew John P. Frame son 3 b Glasgow
You can do a lot of your research online using the IGI at:
http://www.familysearch.org
It is not complete but it is free.
The best place for Scottish family history is:
http://www.scotlandspeople.gov.uk
This is the official site for Scottish records. Youd do have to pay but you can get ALL the information from the images - parents' names, etc. Read the advice and FAQs on the site before you start to spend your credits though. That way you will get the best out of it. 1851. 1861, 1891 and 1901 census images are also avaliable there.
Good luck.
Nell

Thanks for the info yesterday Little Nell. It has gave me the push to look deeper as i have stopped doing any research for 10 years now as i can't make the Strathclyde Genealogy Centre anymore due to work. I am getting used to the p.c. now and am surprised how easy searching online looks thanks to yourself. Ireland maybe difficult though, is there the same kind of service for there?

Hi Tam,
As far as Ireland is concerned, I suggest you have a look at the information threads on the Irish boards here and ask any questions you may have there. There are a lot of knowledgeable people about! Myself, I'm not an expert on searching there, although at some point I need to look at Limerick records.

I noticed your FRAME research of 12 months ago. Our ancestor who emigrated to NZ from Alloa was John Frame McBe(a)th. Have you ever seen a McBeath or Munro connected to FRAME.
