Hi Lesley, and thank you for your kind offer. I suspect there are a few "Duncan"s in Eccles and Leith(h)olm who "belong" to me. I would be very grateful if you could look them up, as it´s rather a long way there for me.

Here lies ROBERT STEWART who died 3.11.1738 aged 35 years. Also ISOBEL DARY his wife who died 9.7.1739 age 33 years.

Hi Eve,

Here's what I found !


In memory of JENNET SERVICE daughter to JAMES SERVICE smith in Birgham who died 13.1.1793 aged 3 years. JAMES SERVICE who died 21.7.71841 aged 80 years also AGNESS SHEELL his wife who died 28.4.1844 age 80 years.

Reverse: Here lies interred the body of  DOROTHY LIVINGSTONE  spouse to NICHOL SHEELL in Birgham who died 17.6.1792 aged 75 years also NICHOL SHEELL who died 4.1.1793 age 77 years


In loving memory of ANDREW SHIEL who died a Bartlehill 21.10.1915 age 63 years also JANET GRAHAM his wife who died at Sourhope 7.10.1933 aged 73yrs


This stone is in memory of JAMES SHIELDS son of JOHN & MARY SHIELDS late of the 25th Regiment of  Foot who died 3.1.1825 aged 34 years.
