Is there any other way of finding him?
« on: Wednesday 22 March 06 17:22 UTC (UK) »

Hi

I have found a William Henry Leech dying in the 4th quarter of 1885 in Epsom.

Before I send off for the certificate and get another wrong one, I wondered if there is any other way to find him (electoral rolls/directories?) or suchlike.

He was living at 89 Wick Road in Hackney in 1881.

His second wife was Eliza/beth Marie and she was born about 1829 in Hoxton.  They were living in Hackney in 1881 and she was 52.  William was 41.

William was born in 1839 in Islington and was a carpenter.

He had a son George who was living in Sutton in 1891 (which tends to be registered as Epsom) so perhaps he was there because of him?

I have no idea where he could be buried either.  Or when or where Eliza died.  Does anyone have any ideas please?  Much appreciated.

The only extra confirmation I can think of is to find Eliza in 1891 - if she is a widow in Sutton/Epsom area it adds weight to this being the right death. If she is still happily with hubby William somewhere - then this is not your guy.

But I would think it probably is. Death cert may help confirm, if informant is wife or son that you know about. Who knows - he may die at the son's address (that you have for 1891) and that would definitely confirm it.

You never know what you'll find till you go for it!
