Who do you think you are series 2 Book
« on: Saturday 25 March 06 21:47 UTC (UK) »

I dont which post mentioned that the book had more background information - I thought they meant more info on each celebrity as there is no more in the book than the series. Has any one else bought the book so they can add their views to this. I am only halfway through but its still a good read

Yes I bought the book and haven't read it fully yet.  I have dipped in and out though and what I have seen so far is really interesting and informative about various aspects of our ancestor's life.

However I agree that if you want to know more about the various celebrities, this book does not have more than the TV programme.  But that was not why I bought the book.

Anna

I think so, it's different to the first book, but there is a lot of information in it.

Right I've got my copy off the bookshelf:

There are 6 themes
Skeletons - based on Jeremy Paxman
For Queen and Country - Julian Clary
Shipping in, shipping out - Jane Horrocks
Earning a crust - Stephen Fry
Moving around - Gurinda Chadha
Everyday life - Sheila Hancock

Within each of these themes there are useful stories and bits of information around the theme.  For instance shipping in, shipping out has stuff about navvies, immigrants etc.

I like it!

That's a pity because it's usually much cheaper Sad

You could see if any of the local bookshops could order you a copy if you get all the details including the ISBN number or, alternatively, borrow a copy from your local library (they can order one from another branch if they don't have one on the shelf).  There is sometimes a small charge depending upon where you live.
