I just recalled the place she said Kathleen(Nellie)'s father was at with the guards (Malmo in Sweden) i don't know if that is of any help with anything or not.

Is it not more likely that the HADGRAFT family were the ones with the Swedish connection?

I am sure there will be lots more info once you have a chance to speak to her.

It would be a good idea now to invest in a cert or two, which will enable you to confirm or deny what has been found so far.

We promise to be patient, if you promise to let us know on this thread whatever you find out?!?

kind regards, Arranroots  Wink

Thank you very much.

It was definitely the Keightley family with the swedish connection but then he was probably only stationed there for a while.

I will be back again once she gets home and tell you what she says.

Ok - m-i-l has returned home and only has one piece of new information. Her mother Nellie(Kathleen) did have 2 sisters presumably they were older called Doris and Ann(e) Keightley.  I have ordered her a copy of her father's marriage certificate in September 1928 so hopefully we will get somewhere now on this. Many thanks for your help

All the Doris KEIGHTLEYs on the 1901 are in Yorkshire.  Yours might have been born after the census, though.

We don't know whether they were born in England, do we?

On http://www.yorkshirebmd.org.uk/cgi/birthind.cgi , I can see :

Doris Keightley 1901 Hunslet
Annie 1903 Hunslet
Kathleen M 1907 Holbeck

However, there are quite a few Keightley's so this is just a guess.

Hi Sally

I would be inclined to wait for the cert you have ordered and see where that leads.

You should be able to look for the families in 1901 once you know their fathers' names & occupations, which should be on the certificates.  See whether it matches with what we have already found and let us know if you need help again.

Just had a quick look at the Suffolk Burials Index.
Hadgraft was a surprisingly common name, but they ALL came from Ipswich.
The earliest records go back to the turn of the 1700s!

GOOGLE IS YOUR FRIEND!

Try here:

Arthur Frederick HADCRAFT is listed with his ancestors.
Kathleen is also mentioned alongside him, but the researcher doesn't know her name....yet!

Cheers
