Hi

I have been having a search and was not having much luck, so I had a look at the 1881 to see the information you had got.

Looking at the original image, the family are transcribed correctly as it is clearly Howells not Powis. Just thought I would confirm if you were aware of this, and that this is actually the correct family you are searching for?

Kind Regards
Steve

Thanks for your interest. The family really did start life as Powis although Howells on the 1881 and they are still Howells on the 1891 census.
I can verify this is the family by addresses on  birth and marriage certificates. In 1891 Jane Howells is living at an address in Aston with a lodger Thomas Underwood whom she married a year later using the name Jane Powis. All other details fit including all the children.Strangely when Emily Powis  married her brother William Powis signed the register with the name William Howells as a witness.Just another of lifes genealogical mysteries.
In 1881 Emily Powis was living at 59 Park Lane with her mother Jane the family called (Howells.)
She married my relative James Maybury  and in 1901 census James and Emily lived at 59 Park Lane.
