Does anybody have any info on a Mary Ann Barker b Cliffe 1875 or the Barker family Charles W (head)/ Sarah b Cliffe 1848 (wife) other than what is on census?

I have a copy of Mary Ann Barker's baptism record in Cliffe if thats any use to you?

Hi Graham,
Thanks for responding.

Mary Ann is my husband's gt grandmother.

I have since found a baptism on City Ark for a Mary Ann Barker at St Helens Cliffe 8th Sunday after Trinity 1875 which gave a George Barker as the father.

I also have a birth certificate for a Mary Ann Barker Cliffe 1/6/1875 which gives her father as Charles William Barker and Mother as Sarah Barnes. I have found other baptisms on City Ark to a Charles and Sarah Barker so I assumed the entry for George was a mistake and should have been Charles- what have you got?

I've been trying to find Charles and Sarah marriage (about 1866) with no luck!

As far as I can tell from census etc Sarah Barnes was the daughter of Thomas Barnes  and Sophia Cove.

I have the same info as you from the Medway Cityark.

 Mary Ann Barker at St Helens Cliffe 8th Sunday after Trinity 1875 which gave a George Barker as the father.

I spend a lot of time looking in this area for my wife's relatives.

Yes I too spend a lot of time trawling through the CityArk I did try to use the search engine but had no success with it.

The family in question is the 'Smokers' and in particular Stephen Smoker I do have all the various certificates etc for him.

However it would seem that his parents were called Joseph Bagshaw and Caroline Smoker and as far as I can see they never married.

I have yet to find any trace of Joseph or for that matter Caroline.

Stephen's marriage cert shows his father to be 'Samuel' would this be a Smoker I have no idea

Stephen often would go by the title Stephen Joseph Bagshaw Smoker but who is Joseph Bagshaw.

The area that I have found them has been:

Frindsbury,Cliffe,Upnor, High Halstow,Cooling and Chalk,I have search through most of the records to try and locate Joseph Bagshaw and Samuel Huh but with no success.

Any ideas??
