Thanks littlejaffa for your info.  I am really interested in finding out where my granny lived and my mother was born.   I am hoping to get a picture of the Bremner Cottages to show my mother which might stir up some memories.  Bye Helen

Hi Eilidh, I am just south of the border from you. Smiley  Debbie in B.C. and Winniep are both related to me, and I also have come across Bremners Land in my searches.  What surnames are you researching?

Having grown up in Clydebank(born Mountblow lived Faifley & Dalmuir) I loved looking at the photos.
I remember the little cafe which was opposite Goldenhill Park(Main St Duntocher) one day my little sister was parked outside whilst we went into buy ice-creams.Terrible screams were heard & we all rushed outside to find a Donkey which had escaped from it's field was busy licking Elizabeth & her "pokey hat"She still has a phobia re Donkeys forty years on!

Hi Joette,  it is truly amazing how much I am learning about where my mother was born. I just loved your comment about your sister's "pokey hat".  It brought back memories of when I was a little girl (too many decades ago)   Smiley My sister and I sometimes would break off the cone at the bottom and dip it into the icecream and make a wee "pokey hat". I haven't heard an icecream cone called that in years, thanks for the memory, bye Helen

Used to(admit it still do that!).Was back in Clydebank about ten days ago & will be back in another four weeks. It has changed so much & yet there is still so much of what it used to be.
Antoinine Wall goes through Duntocher,Hardgate,OK & Faifley. Not forgetting the Druid stones behind Edinbarnet school where we used to picnic(hot choc & corned beef & tomato rolls in the Winter) We used to sledge there on occasions & I remember once we sledged in the same pushchair-including my Mum!What can I say we got a surprise half-day from school(probably ran out of oil or somesuch) & it snowed quickly & deeply enough to sledge.
