Hi Vanda,

The problem is this bit is linking to the wrong bit:

Code:
<body background="_themes/sumipntg/sumtextb.jpg"

If you change that bit to:

Code:
<body background="sumtextb.jpg"

Andrew

I've tried renaming the file but it won't accept "or < as a file name?

When you publish the site created in frontpage and I'm presuming here that you published to your computer and then used an FTP program  many of the folders required are not normally visible. Thi includes the _themes directory amongst others.

1. when publishing using Frontpage ensure that ALL folders and files are copied to the destination
2. if publishing locally and then using an FTP program ensure that it can see all files and ensure that all of these are transferred to the remote web server.

The thing about uploading folders to rootschat is that if your webapges dont link to whatevers inside the folders then you're back at square one.  OTOH if they DO link to whatever is inside the folders, then you should be fine. Smiley

I never use folders just to avoid complications. - but thats just me. Smiley

This could bring us into a discussion of "how to organise a website" here
One advantage of folders is that you can add other bits and keep them them seperate.
e.g. phpgedview, or family trees from legacy, or kstableau, or others, or loads of images, and you can then edit your robots.txt file so that web-crawlers won't access thes directories and use up your bandwidth.

I'm at home now and it wont let me upload any folders.  From my file manager I click browse so I can find the bit I want to upload.  When I click on a folder it just opens it and there's nothing there so I can't upload it.  I am giving up on the background at the moment because it's doing my head in  Roll Eyes  I think I'll come back to it later - thanks for everyones help, it really is appreciated.

Thanks BD,

A new day a fresh start.  It's always worth walking away from it, isn't it.  I was telling Andrew (hubby) how everyone was trying to help me with the background and although he has even less idea than me he listened patiently to what I was telling him.  We followed the rootchat thread and did it step by step, I scrolled down the http list and found the code I am supposed to change and after the 4th attempt we did it so I am now the proud owner of a background  Grin

Thanks Andrew123 for the code I needed  Grin

Thanks to everyone else who helped you're all stars  Kiss

Best wishes Vanda
