There is a baptism of a Mary Ann Prudhoe in Ryton 11 Aug 1839 d/o William and Ann. I only have the names and date. The actual parish record would have the father's occupation.
An alternative view might be that by 1851 Ann was a widow however her deceased husband is not the father of the two boys. I have a case of this "immaculate conception" in my family history. I looked for a long time for a death certificate for a father of a 6 month old infant only to find his death was 5 years before the birth of the child and there were 2 other children born since then. Their birth certificates have no father listed.
Interesting as I have an Edward Prudhoe in the family history. Born abt 1824 Winlaton, baptised Ryton in 1824 with parents named Joseph and Elizabeth.

Marilyn,
No previous contact that I know of although I am on several Northeast area boards such as this one.
My family has a Margaret Ann Prudhoe b. 1852, daughter of Edward Prudhoe, married to George Hall brother of my gr great grandmother Sarah Hall. No big family connection but in this family history hobby--any connection is a connnection however distant.
