Family History Software
« on: Monday 11 October 04 21:58 BST (UK) »

I came across a piece of software that might be of interest to those looking for a good product. Its called Genbox and you can download a full version from http://www.genbox.com, its limited to 30 days as a trial, can be purchased from TWR for around £30, so not mega expensive. They even have their own mailing list via Rootsweb.

Would be interested to see what other think.

Just downloaded it so will have a play later.

I like the look of the charts and trees you can print off though.  It looks as though there is one that will show all relatives and how they are connected instead of just ancestors or descendants.

Have you tried it yourself yet?

Was playing around a bit last night and found some useful bits.

It is similar to many of the other products on the market, but what impresses me at this stage is the effort to make it user friendly. I am more interested in its ability to create web pagesand/or be web integratable.

Will try and play a bit more before the BBC2 9pm prog

Hi, I've been using a program called GenoPro which is free although their site does have a copy of GenoPro Gold which had a "bit more" for $24.

Thats what i use Zeb and think the layout of the tree is fab, I dont like the Auto arrange tho, it was ok when my tree was small but now that it's grown the auto arrange makes a right old mess of it.   My brother paid for the Gold Key and it was a BOGOF, so i got mine for nothing Smiley

I've used the layout of the tree on my website and had some very good comments about it.

I,m not very keen on the way it produces Gedcoms tho as half the information is missing but according to the website this will be resolved in the next update.....whenever that will be!!

One-Half of Dancing-Duo Waltzing Through 'TARDIS'.

We agree with the very first message on this Topic.

After searching for a Family History Program for many years, we finally settled on 'GENBOX'

We have been using 'GENBOX', since July 2004, and are very happy with the results.  Upgrades are available from the website.  There is also a comparison chart of features and capabilities, with five other Family History Programs.

We first purchased a CD copy from 'Gould Genealogy', in South Australia, (www.gould.com.au).  They have a link on the 'GENBOX' website (http://www.genbox.com).  Other links included are for two U.K. suppliers, and can also be purchased on-line.  It certainly is worth a visit to the website.
