Hi, You appear to have lots of different birth dates, and places of Birth.
Could you post FULL details of the Census Information you have on Thomas Tatlow, including place of abode, as I have been unable to locate him on either Census.

Hi, This must be driving you nuts!
This is my effort, I do hope it assists and does not add to the confusion. In 1871 Census Rodsley, Derbys Thomas is age 10 born Caton (This should be Coton), with William Tatlow age 37 Born Yeavley, Ag. Lab. Martha Tatlow age 19 Newborough, Staffs. This wife is too young to be Mother of Thomas, so this is a second marriage. (Living a few doors away is a Robert Tatlow born 1799).
1861 Census Yeavley, Derbys William Tatlow 27 Yeavley Butcher Anne Tatlow 23 Coton in the Elms, Derbys.
It was quite normal for the first Child to be born/ Bpt in the parish of the Mother, so because of the Coton connection I am sure this is your William in the 1881 Census RG11/2974 Folio 74 Sch 180 13 Clifton Place, Wynn Street Birmingham Tatlow Thomas 20 Lodger u/m Skin Classer Coton, Derbys In the 1881 Census the Surname has been transcribed as TALLOW, however if you look at the actual sheet it is Tatlow. (have submitted a correction). Because he has been living in Birmingham, perhaps this is why he states in a later census he was born in Birmingham.
Robert Tatlow is in Rodsley age 40 in the 1841 Census, with wife Susannah and Children including William age 5. (do not forget that adult ages are rounded down in the 1841 census by up to 5 years, so aged 40 - 45 is shown as 40.) Some of their children were Bpt. Wesleyan Methodist, Derby, where she is show as Susannah Greatorex.
I suggest that Grand Parents were Robert & Susannah Parents William & Anne
