Ambrose Arthur Franklin Canning Town
« on: Sunday 09 April 06 23:04 BST (UK) »

Hi fellow searchers,
With no living relatives who I can ask I'm finding the first part of my family tree hard going. (Help!)
My Grandfather Arthur Ambrose Franklin was born in 1888 in Canning Town. He was 27 when he married Florence Anderson in July 1915. His address was 80, Byron Ave.
My Great Grandfather was Ambrose Arthur Franklin and his occupation was a Bootmaker. I'm trying to find out where they lived and my Great Grandmother's name.
Can anyone help.
Many thanks Dave. Huh

1881 to 1915 doesn't make him anywhere near 27 years old at marriage.

Can you review and correct?

Had a little trouble finding him on freeBMD - he's indexed as Arthur Ambrose FRANKLING, Jul/Aug/Sep 1888 Hackney registration district  - and yes, that's how he is on the original index, as I checked the image, he's volume 1b page 494.

As I'm not having much luck finding him on 1901 (the one aged 13 b. Canning Town living in West Ham seems to have father George who is a dock labourer), it would probably be worth getting his birth certificate so you would have his mother's name and could look for his parents' marriage also.

Hi Jorose,
Many thanks for that. I have a marriage cert for Arthur Ambrose Franklin but I will take your advice and get a Birth cert.  But I came across George on the 1901 Census but on the marr. cert my GGF is called Ambrose Arthur Franklin but I cant seem to find him anywhere maybe it’ll be easier to trace via my GGM from the birth cert. But once again thanks for your help
Lol
