Thanks for trying Chris.  Mark Lansdell became an analytical chemist so perhaps was away studying in 1851.  He subsequently lived in London.  But James is a mystery.  No doubt he will turn up somewhere!

Ruth

Remembered I had a very old fiche viewer up in the attic - very tatty and dusty, but it did work. (despite the sun today, it was cold up
there)

Sorry, not one single person named Lansdell on the 2 fiche of Brighton & District.

Once again, apologies - but cant find them (unusual for me to say that)

Chris - amazing, thankyou - the Richard and Jane on the Burials are my Great Grandparents so nice to know where they are.  William age 22 is their son.

I have been looking at Will' and Phil' and was hoping that William was a brother to Richard but from the entries i've found on the IGI it does not look as though he is - pity cos Will died in 1851 and Phil got hitched up with a younger chap Edward Wren and seems to have done very nicely for herself, had a Marine Store supply shop in St John St. Lewes.

I'm fairly sure Arthur is the son of Will and Phil - His wife was Elizabeth so that ties in the baptisms and she is the 34yr old Elizabeth on the Burials.

Don't think Richard and Jane were very hot on Baptisms etc. of the 5 children that I know I havnt been able to find a birth or bap. for any of them!

Chris, If there is one, I would like to request a lookup on the 1871 Brighton Census for the following Marchant family, possibly living on Hanover Terrace:
William, b.c1834, Linfield, Sussex
Ann, b.1839, Brighton
Children: James, Ann, Elizabeth, Amelia, Albert and William

With thanks, meg

Hi there Meg

Sorry you have not had a response to this query, Possibly the main reason why you have had no response is:

Sussex aint on line yet

Ancestry.com have not got around to transcribing it as yet, and its not on their list for transcribing in the very very near future.

Sorry Meg, cant give you what is not their on-line.

Chris, That explains the no responses, then!  Sorry, didn't know that Sussex was not included in the 1871 Census Lookups.  Now I know.  My apologies.  thank you, meg

Hi Chris & Ruth,
I sent you an E-mail Chris and it came back "over quota".
I also tried to open the www.Hastings....  website and was told it was a bad connection.
(I had clicked on the link directly)
I am from the Breeds family and sent you something by mail a while ago, Chris, perhaps you rememeber?  I also have an interest in your Landsdell's, Ruth.
I think it may best to explain by E-mail. Is there another address for you somewhere on this site, Chris?

Sorry Folks

I am in the process of 'upgrading' to a bigger web site that will take a lot of my research and archives - so sorry for it being down at the moment.

My e-mail comes through that web site - so unfortunately it is down as well - but have private messaged you both with my own private e-mail address.

Other than that - it is business as usual.
