Cannot find marriage of James Wood b 1810 d 1890 his wife Agnes Moore b abt 1806 d 1861,
they both died in Morebattle Roxburgh. They had 5 Children Thomas b 1836, William b1840, Agnes b 1842, Robert Jeffery b 1844 and George b1848 looked everywhere on SP but cannot find any Sherlocks out there? thanks Helen

Hi, the only James Wood I can find on the IGI in 1810 in Roxburghshire is one baptised 22 July 1810 in Yetholm. Parents Andrew Wood and Kathrine Middlemist, any good?. Can't find an Agnes I'm afraid but there is somebody who has put a Pedigree Resource File on there who has a James Wood born about the right year who married an Agnes Muir. No further details I'm afraid but might be worth trying to contact them.

Hi, it's the International Genealogical Index, you can find it on Familysearch.org or the Hugh wallis site, just put Hugh Wallis into Google and it's the first site that comes up. Sorry, I couldn't find a marriage but a lot of my Scottish ancestors seem to be a pain when it comes to finding their marriages and baptisms for that matter. I have only been able to find one marriage of my Scottish ancestors before 1855 in the past.

Hi,
I have found a James Wood b. 18 AUG 1809, Hassenden Mains, Eccles, Berwick, Scotland. Parents James Wood and Betty Jeffrey. Interestingly this matches with the 1841 census which gives both Agnes and James birthplace as Berwickshire.
Have you seen them in the 1841 and 51 census?
I have looked for a birth of Agnes but found nothing although their oldest son is in the IGI (James b. 7th Jan 1834 Ednam). I can't find a marriage either, something fishy going on!
The IGI is not complete and of course neither are the original records. Did James Wood and Betty Jeffrey survive until 1841?

Hi Emma thanks for your help I too found James on IGI 07 Dec 1833 Harper Town Ednam Roxburgh
I have been searching for Agnes Moore, but I think the surname is actually Muir, as this shows up in one of the children's middle names, I know she died on 06 Sep 1861 at Morebattle Roxburgh, but I am really stuck on her marriage.
Some one on IGI is also researching but do not know how to contact him, all his info fits mine.
