Hi,
I looked at Ancestry - houses are not named but the Village Blacksmith is called Thomas Woolrich - does that help?

Thomas Woolrich does not ring a bell, her name was Birchall would there be a William Birchall death registered from that address at any stage, dont know his exact date of deat cant find it anywhere he was born around 1861 any help appreciated.

Hi Mallow,
Do you have any other info? Your grandmothers name and relationship to William? I'm assuming William was her father. Have you located her on the 1901? I was trying to place William in an area to look for his death.
:)Karen

Thanks for that Karen , William Birchall was my Grandmothers husband we think he died about 15 or 20 years before her she died in 1940, he is supposed to be buried in Bosley his last address would have been somewhere around there, I dont know the area as I live in Ireland so sorry to sound so vague, I never could find a death for him, all help appreciated.

Samuel if ever an Ag Lab looked like one it was he

Hi
According to the Cheshire 1934 trades directory the blacksmith at Hankelow was a Bertram Malkin, this chap appears to have died in the area in 1963 so its possible he was there in 1940.
There is a death for a William Birchall 1927 age 69 in Cheddleton Staffordshire, which is just over the hill from Bosley about 12 miles.
hope this helps

Thank you so much for that information, I will go for that William Burchill, Would I apply to Staffordshire Record office or Cheshire Record office for death cert Have not heard of Bertram Malkin among relatives but it is a great start to get a name for the Blacksmith, I am sure he was there in 1938 when she left to go into the workhouse, perhaps there may be someone around that area who will know of that name, Thanks Again,

Hi
It would be Staffordshire Records office, if you go on to this BMD site and find the index for William Burchill then click on the reg number you should be able to print of a request form for the certificate. http://www.staffordshirebmd.org.uk/
There should be a Electoral Roll register for the years 1937/8, there wasn't one done during the war 1939/1945 most likely for that area it should be at the Nantwich Library, if not they should tell where it is.
good luck
