Hello Tara

I've just noticed that you have parish registers for Burwarton.

My ggggrandparents lived there!!

Their names were John Noakes and Sarah Burton

They married 11 Apr 1826. John was born in  c1803 and Sarah c1806.

All their 8 children were born there but obviously after 1812.

I would would be grateful for any info. especially John and Sarah's  christening details.

I'm afraid this is all there was. There were no Noakes, only Nokes.

Mar 31 Richard Nokes & Anne (crossed out: Hall) his reputed wife were again legally married by banns mar.

Jul 4 Richard s. of Richard & Anne Nokes bap.

Jan 26 Benjamin s. of Richard & Anne Nokes bap

Mar 7 John s. of Ri. & Anne Nokes bap.

In 1782 there is a Edward Nokes - a Churchwarden

Jun 13 Anne Nokes Infant bur.

This is the only Burton:

By banns
Wit: John (x) Goode Martha Goode

If Hall is her correct surname then, In 1731
Jan 9 Ann d. of Will. Hall & Mary his wife bap.

Thanks for all that effort and info.

I'm sure it will be the same Noakes family as I've come across various spellings including that one!!

I found John and Sarah's marriage and dates of birth on the IGI. It seems odd doesn't it that they give d.o.bs.(about 1803 and about 1807) and not christening dates.  They are both shown as being born and married at Burwarton. You would expect them to be christened at Burwarton church wouldn't you. Any suggestions?

Thank you one again for your help I'm sure it will be v.useful when I study the finer points!!
