Hello everyone,
I've been researching my Fox family which originated from Ballinamore, Leitrim, Ireland. I'm trying to find if there are any others out there researching Fox's in this area. My Fox family ended up immigrating to the city of New Britain, Hartford County, Connectiut, USA.
I'm trying to more details about a few of these Foxes.
1) Patrick Fox married Mary McGovern, I presume about 1873-1875 based upon the birth date of their first child. I can't find any indexes which mention this wedding.
2) Patrick Fox must have died between 1893 and 1901. I can't find an index to his death record either.
3) If your are reseacrhing Fox's from this area, I'd love to hear from you!!!
Any help you could provide would be appreciated.
Thanks, Jim

Hi,
I presume you've searched the indexes for these years either at the GRO in Dublin or on film at your local family history centre?
Thanks
Kate

Hi Kate,
Thank you for your response. I had some computer problems and with the holiday shopping I haven't been able to respond until now.
Unfortunately, I don't live in Ireland where I'd have access to the indexes at the GRO in Dublin. I've only gone to my lcoal family history center once. I felt a ltitle lost, got a little discouraged there and haven't returned since. Never found anything there either.
If you have any advice about visiting a family history center to find those indexes, I'd love to here about it.
Thanks again, Jim

Hi Jim,
I am only familiar with the one in Dublin and I believe they are somewhat differently run elsewhere so why not post this question on one of the general boards. I'm sure someone can advise.
Good luck and don't give up!
Kate

Probably a long shot but what are the childrens names/dob's etc? I have a few Fox's in my records although I don't think there is a Mary McGovern.

Hi Jim Sorry for the long delay. Partly computer partly health (computer and me!)
You have probably got this by now but here goes again just in case
1901 census for Drumbrick townland, parish of Drumreilly. http://www.leitrim-roscommon.com/cgi-bin/newcen-srch
Patrick 45, cooper; Mary 43, Pat 23, Kate 17, Helena 11, James 9, Hugh 8, Lizzie 6, peter 4. No sign of Bridget, Mary, Margaret, Rose - probably married away (plus I haven't looked for them specifically.)
Is there a Mormon (LDS) genealogy library anywhere near you? If so you can get the film of the parish records to look up births etc yourself. You won't get Pat (senior) and wife Mary as I believe the records only start in the 1870's but you might get the marriage.
They may also have the Irish GRO indices to births etc for the death pf Pat senior.
sorry again for the delay
Any questions just call
Jim
