Hi Barbara,
My hubby's grandfather was always known to have been an engineer. When I finally found the records - he was a tinsmith!
So don't always take someone elses word for an occupation. Variations in occupation have been "challenging" in my family.
Certainly looks like the Abbott has some meaning - suggest, when $'s permit, that you have a look at the other birth record (even only to rule out any possible connection)
Regards Di

Coincidentally, in our local paper today there was a funeral notice for a John Albert Onley, late of "Bulala", Roma, who died at the age of 75.
It's an uncommon name. Be funny if this was a relative of yours, Barbara!

I've been searching for a persons father for what seems like half a lifetime ( it isn't really, it just seems that way )with no luck whatsoever. I'm just wondering how long do you keep looking for somebody before you say enough!! Barbara Why not give us the name and time frame?
