Name of WOODHALL Manchester
« on: Saturday 15 April 06 13:17 UTC (UK) »

Hello,
I need help to find more about a male person who's name was on a death certificate.
He could have been a Doctor, as I understand there is/was a hospital close by
The name was W.D. Woodhall
of  20 Nell Lane Withington M/cr in the year   1923
I understand it is difficult not knowing if he is a William or a Wilfred.
The style of writing indicates a male person.
I have tried Familysearch without any luck.
Any Ideas??  Mrs. G

Have you contacted the office that issued the death certificate to see if they keep records, or the hospital you may think the person worked in, do you know the name of hospital?

good luck

Hello Jane,
That is all the information I have on W.D. Woodhall.
I was just suggesting he could have been a Doctor as  the Withington Hospital is close by, I think on Nell Lane.
Thanks you for your suggestion.

Hello Dave,
Thank you, that will account for his signature on the death certificate. I was thinking/ hoping it could have been a marriage partner.
I live in Australia, a friend I have back home went to the address, 20 Nell Lane Withington, and found this number to be an old terraced  house.
Best wishes. Mrs. G

Mrs G

Withington Hospital was and still is a large one and after looking on an old map it shows 5 or 6 cottages on Nell Lane but within the hospital boundary.

W H Wodhall being Assistant Master, (we would now call him a Senior Doctor or Consultant), he would probably have lived in one of these cottages.

Glad to help

Hi Dave,
We Lived in Didsbury in the 1960's our first child was born at Withington Hospital.
It was old in those days  I thought by now there may have been a new location somewhere for the hospital,  all glass, metal and all under the one roof.
I spent some time around the hospital in those days not knowing that my G.G.Grandmother had spent her last days in one of those old buildings.
Thank you for your interest.
Bye,  Mrs.G

Hi,

I've just found this information, and amazingly enough, I also have a death certificate showing W.H. Woodhall as being the informant, so now you've satisfied my query.

Likewise I live in Australia, and was wondering who this person was, thank's for this fabulous website.
