Would be grateful  if anyone has access to census returns for Appin and can find Donald McColl,  wife Christian or Christie, possibly at Coelard.

Hi Monica
Children were born from 1784 - 1799 so Donald and Christian would have been pretty old, probably over 80, in 1841, so it's a long shot anyway. Possible offspring= Christian,1784;Margaret,1788;Niel and Donald,1794; Hugh,1797; Isabella,1799.

Hi Caz

I thought that would be their ages from looking at the IGI. There are two Christian McColls showing on 1841 freecen in Argyll. Not sure if you have looked there. One is aged 85 and the other is aged 70. As you know, the 1841 census index does not give relationships.  Given the ages of Christian's children, the first aged 85 is probably a better fit in respect of her age.

Regards.

Caz

As you'll see when you look at freecen, the two Christian McColls are in separate households. Not to say they might not be related.
