Thanks Rob, I hope others follow your example and post details about the way they will be travelling to Ireland. If you have been to Ireland before folks please post as any information you can give will be extremely useful to those coming for the first time.
All the Best, Chris
Okay, here goes then Christopher. In the North West, of course, there's good old Manchester International Aiport - see the link below
http://www.bbc.co.uk/manchester/content/panoramas/airport_roof_places_360.shtml
and if I remember correctly, a return ticket to Dublin from Manchester costs about £25, which is very reasonable.
One of the places I personally would love to visit in Dublin is either the Royal Court Theatre or the Abbey Theatre - anyone else interested ??

I'm not a genealogist, but I am in Dublin and am interested in my city's social history. If I'm not out of Dublin working next year, I should be available for this. Trish http://www.dublin1850.com

Thanks for your message Trish.
I hope you won't be out of town and will be able to join us.
I'm thinking of doing a two year part time post graduate course on the Social History of Belfast. The course does include a section on genealogy. I'm not a graduate so I hope mature students may attend the course. All I can do is post off an enquiry asking if I may attend and say a little prayer.

Smock Alley had a royal charter and was known as the Theatre Royal even more moons before the more recent one.

Thanks for your support Damsel. The Dublin Meet looks as though there will be a good crowd of RootsChatters in the city next year. Click here for a list of Dublin theatres.

Thanks for that Christopher but as I said I was born and have lived in Dublin all my life until last year when I moved to Kildare, so I am very familiar with all of her Theatres and indeed would have had many a good night in every single one of them !! good website for those travelling over for your get together though :-

I've just noticed that the Aras an Uachtarain ... the President's House is open between 10.30am to 16.30pm on Saturdays in the Summer. Booking is not possible .. just turn up for the tour. I think we should pencil this in as one of the events for the Saturday of the Dublin Meet. At the moment June is the hot favourite for this event. There'll be another poll later in the year to decide which weekend would be the most popular one for the Dublin Meet. Now I have a question .. would people reading this thread who do not have ancestors in the Dublin area but ancestors from the north of Ireland be interested in a three day meet in Belfast next year? The reason I ask this question is on the Belfast Forum I've been in touch with a couple of guys who organise a wide variety of tours including genealogy tours for groups and for extended family groups. They advised me that they'd be delighted to assist me getting genealogy meets and tours in NI off the ground. The UHF run one but I feel there is room for a least another one.
Some of you may be travelling to Ireland for the first time so here are some ferry routes. Enter the most suitable route in Google to find which ferry line covers the route.

You're close Damsel,
If the other months do not catch up the next vote will be to decide which weekend and not the month which looks as though it will probably be June.
Is everyone organising their own accommodation or will some need it to be booked?
