Sorry Chris, I don't know Dublin that well to even suggest a place, there must be a Dublin member who will step forward.

Look out for posts from Mo too. She'll be making a few phone calls and sending emails. She told me that if people are looking for accommodation the rates in Dublin city centre are high so it's better to look for somewhere to stay on the outskirts. If anyone in the Dublin area is prepared to put other RootsChatters up for a night or two please contact Mo or myself. At the moment I think most people are making their own arrangements but there may be some latecomers adding their names to the list at the last moment.

Right Gang,
I have found a Pub that has a function room in a central (and Safe) part of town who would be happy to let us loose on the Friday night.
Bishop Street (the national Archives) are open 10.00 - 17.00 Monday - Friday and anyone who wants to go here should read the following web site for readers tickets requirements:
http://www.nationalarchives.ie/contactus/tickets.html
The GRO in Joyce House too is only open from 9.30 a.m to 4.30 p.m. for the purpose of searching the indexes to birth, death and marriage records and obtaining photocopies / certificates Now the research room isn't the biggest and they only allow people in on a first come first served basis. The costs are.
There are two types of searches available to the public. These are for the indexes only.
A particular search to a maximum of 5 years for a fee of €2.00.
A general search for one day covering all years for a fee of €20.00
charges for photocopies are extra.
I spoke to the National Library today and while they have no objection in principle to a group coming to the Library it would have to be done with prior arrangement so not to cause to much disruption to the regular users of the library reading rooms.
They can organise a tour of the library and advice on what the collections hold and how to access the information but it would be advisible to arrange this in advance. I do doubt if the whole group would get in at once. But after the tour I am sure that some of the group would managed to get readers tickets and be able to access the collections.
There is another library in Pearse Street which does also hold some great collections and is well worth a visit.
Hotels in Dublin city centre can be rather pricey.... but there are a couple of Reasonable hotels around
Jurys Inns
http://www.jurys-dublin-hotels.com/jurysinn_customshouse
http://www.jurys-dublin-hotels.com/jurysinn_parnellstreet
http://www.jurys-dublin-hotels.com/jurysinn_christchurch
Bewleys Hotels
http://www.bewleyshotels.com/ballsbridge_hotel_dublin.asp
Of course it is possible to find hotels in Dublin that are better than these in fact there are some really nice hotels and guest houses and all are available to book on the net.
If there are any other questions I can help anyone with please do get in touch.
I don't think that just the Friday and Saturday would be enough if people want more research time.
but Dublin a great place for a party.... would be great to meet up with you all
Mo

Wish I could be there, but can't. I stayed at the Skylon Hotel early last December. It was £188 for four nights, B & B.

This event is only a few weeks away now. Has anyone any problems?
I've got one .... Mo, where are we meeting on the Friday evening please? BTW I received a message last night from a friend in Kildare offering to assist with last minute queries or looking for places where members can stay.

Is anyone who said that they'll be in Dublin reading this thread
Mo, you were online since my last post but I see no reply. We could all be wandering around Dublin on Friday week trying to find the pub you mentioned in your message on Wednesday 4th April.
