Hiya Mary ,
I know there are a few fellow genealogists in the Belfast and Co. Down area. I have not a clue how many there are in the Dublin area. It is disgraceful. The City is almost the size of the north of Ireland. The only Dublin member appears to be Mo (Moscan). I don't believe it. A population in the region of 1.300,000 and only one person searching for their ancestors. If Rootschaters stated their location we might find a few more. Why are so many not stating their locations Their ancestors may have been convicts..surely they are not convicts too
I got quite carried away there for a minute. I nearly signed with an X imagining I was an illiterate nineteenth Irish peasant.
Chris.

Hi Chris,
I sure agree with you that there should surely be plenty of people searching. Might it be possible that they are beginners and as such are a bit intimidated???
So all you Irish Rootschatters come on....crawl out of the woodwork and if you are unsure we'll all hold out the hand of friendship and try to help you in any way we can. Just remember we were all rookies once and the only way any of us have learned was by ploughing through records and asking....even begging sometimes, for help.
This meet in 2007 could be a really good get together but it will need to be well planned as otherwise Chris will not know what size venue we'll need.
I hope this will motivate you all to at the very least show yourselves.
Mary.

If the meet is not in July I will be there along with Mary Merne. It will be great to meet up with other people interested in the same subject.

Hiya Everyone,
We have 37 possible starters (if I get an affirmative reply to a message sent just now). Lets see if we can interest at least 20 more people before the end of this month. I will endeavour to extract a promise from Ticker that no one will be expected to push the lawnmower at his country seat which a small grassy mound in South Dublin
All the Best, Chris

UPDATE
41 may attend. Can we make it 50 by midnight and aim for well over 100 by the end of May Keep going everyone. It would be great if this was attended by a large number of people. This is the reason the event is being planned for next year. Everyone needs to plan ahead for a big event in their lives.

To Christopher, Ravenhair and potential guests I think that you should All pack your bags, and arrange the family,Trust me.....they'll still be there when you get back ::)Starving possilby, but alive! I live in perth western australia......Which is the most isolated capital city in the world, but Its beaytiful,so thats ok!!!! I would quite possibly chew off my right arm to go to dublin, and access any record I could find, just to walk the streets ,and drown in all the history!!! You dont relize how lucky you all are ..SO Take a running jump, wave Ta-Ta,and off you all go to dublin cheers from chrissy.

It is a bit early to give this advice. I hope people realise this event in Dublin takes place at least thirteen months hence. We have a choice of June, July or August. I wonder if June or July might be better. Ireland's leading equestrian and social event of the year ... The Dublin Horse Show..takes place in August and it may be more difficult to get accommodation at that time of the year unless you book early. People attending the Horse Show probably book twelve months in advance.
Best Wishes, Chris
