Hi Kate:

Actual census records can be had through Scotlands People.

Bayanne site shows a Thomas Nelson b. 1810 m. Sarah Herculson.  There son Thomas Nelson b. 1844 Lerwick m. Margaret Leask b. 1845.  Actual dates with marriage dates shown on the Bayanne site.

Newbie - researching Smith from Shetland, Hird from Arbroath, Scotland, Whittier/Coombs in N. America and Laurenson in South Africa.  
Many Scots emigrated here - can do pics for Local cemetaries.  Books on N. Norfolk Municipality settlers and local archives.
Computer skills are  limited.
