Charles Coad age 35, male, miner living in Rockland Township, Ontonaga Co, Michigan. born England
Looks like it's a mining camp. Hundreds of miners!

So he obviously didnt have a family at that time - or do you think that he was at work when the census was done ?

Can't find him anywhere on 1870 or 1880. I also looked at Michigan deaths but no luck.

No, I don't think he had a family in 1860. The 1860 census doesn't record the marital status but there are other men with a female of the same name and approximate age listed and I would assume that they are married couples.
