Hoping someone can help me.
My 4G grandmother was Mary Crutch, who never married. According to census she was born c 1785 - 1787 in Asket, Oxfordshire but in 1841 she was said to have been born in Buckinghamshire
1841 Mary Crutch, F, 55, Ag Lab, Y Address Chearsley, Bucks HO107/38/8 Folio 6 p20
1851 Mary Crutch, Head, Unm, F, 65, Cooper, Oxon, Asket Address Chearsley HO 107/1721 Folio 82 p2
1861 James Piddington, Head, Mar, M, 48, Ag lab, Bucks, Cuddington Mary Piddington, Wife, Mar, F, 45, Lace Maker, Bucks, Chearsley Mary Cruch, Mother-in-law, Widow, F, 73, Oxon, Asket Address Water House, Upper Winchendon, RG 9/864 Folio 71 p 3
I am hoping that someone will have some ideas as to where Mary was born - am I missing somewhere in Oxfordshire called Asket, or was she likely to have been born in Askett, Buckinghamshire?
If the latter, where was she likely to have been baptised? I can only find references to a Baptist Chapel in later years in Askett.
Tazzie very helpfully found her children and grandchild's baptisms for me in Chearsley , hoping someone may be able to tell me more about the mother's likely place of birth/possible baptism.

I'm fairly sure Askett, Bucks and Askett, Oxon are one and the same. I've had the same problems with Stokenchurch which is south of Askett and started in Oxon and is now in Bucks.
The nearest church would either be St Dunstans in Monks Risborough or All Saints in Little Kimble, although looking at the parish map
http://www.bucksgs.org.uk/maps/parish.html
it may well have been in the Great Kimble parish (St Nicholas)

Thanks for the map link, JLo.
Looks like Askett is nowhere near the county border, though Stokenchurch looks just on the border.
I think it must be the same place, but since she lived in Chearsley since at least 1812, and both her children were born there, I can't see why she would give her county of birth as Oxfordshire (except in 1841).
Has anyone got access to any of these Parish records? No obvious Crutch/Crouch names appear in IGI.
