I am looking for a friend for the following people. This is all the information I have William Norris marries Sarah Ricketts in West Knoyle in 1825 and have at least one daughter Jane (?b Bishopstrow 18345) who arrived in Australia c 1852
Jane marries (in Australia) Edward Maerral who came from Boxley Kent. His parents were William and Elizabeth Parkes. Any information on either parents would really be appreciated. I have looked at the IGI and 1837 online with little luck. 1841/51 Census information may give me some clue to siblings and occupations. ]
Thank you Robyn(Sydney)

There are 4 extracted entries on the IGI for children of William Norris and Sarah in the period 1832 +/- 10 years - 3 are in Bishopstrow, one of whom is Jane christened 7th June 1834. If you use this batch number C153971 and search for all Norris, there also appear to be some from the previous generation. The same batch number with M instead of C will give you any Norris marriages in this parish. The interesting thing about this batch is that it appears to be one of the "female only" indexes that seem to occur quite often on the IGI. (There was a Dennis in the list but was listed as Female). To find the males in the batch you will need to order the film from the LDS and wind your way through it - but you would probably find some brothers and perhaps the birth record of William.
There is also an extracted entry for Sarah Rickets - born 1793 in East Knoyle. If this is the mother - many of the other children in above batch are probably her grandchildren - as they are born in 1840s. I would hazard a guess that William and Sarah had some sons between 1825 - 1834.
Jane would only have been about 18 when she came to australia, it is very unlikely that she travelled alone. Parents and/or siblings would probably have been with her. In the two cases I have of apparently single women coming to Australia pre 1860, I found one travelled with brother and sister (encouraged by an uncle) and the other was with sister, brother-in-law & parents - all encouraged to come out by a brother who travelled a few years earlier. If you can track the ship she came on, you may find others in the family.
