Henderson

Now that scotlandspeople has the 1841 census available I have managed to find some wayward people. I found John Henderson age 12 living with his mother Margaret Smith, age 40. They were living on South Street. I rather like the procedure of listing a woman's maiden name on many of these early censuses, because there were a few John and Margaret Hendersons but I was looking for a wife - Margaret Smith. It seems they were the only ones there, although there was a 25 - year- old woman with children of her own but I can't make out the last name. It may have been a daughter. I can trace my family from this young John but can anyone give any information on the parents?
However John's future wife's family is very elusive. Anne Foot(e) and her parents Alexander and Marion just do not exist anywhere. She was supposed to be from Dunfermline- but no luck for me. I tried Foot(e) for the whole country. John and Anne lived and died in Bo'ness on South street and I have them there from 1851 onward. Any help appreciated..Donna

Hi Joe: Thank you for your information, but on John's death certificate it does state mother as Margaret Smith, and the 1841 census does have a John Henderson living with his widowed mother Margaret Smith in Bo'ness.
I found one marriage for Henderson/smith. The Foot(e)s are elusive. Even on the census they seems to disappear( all Foots). I found one Marion who was the daughter of an Alexander Foot ( butcher from Fife) and thought she might be a sister of Anne. I found an Anne Foot on an 1841 ceusus but mother was not Marion. It might be Smith was married under another name. I am pretty confident that the Henderson/Smith combination is correct.
