Hi mackiwi,

We could do with a few more clues. What time period, did the parents marry in NZ and do you know where? Any idea where they might have lived once married, or when either of them died?

Cheers, riley

Hi Riley,

Frederick & Amelia married 13th Aug 1907 at Blenheim Frederick was 24 and Amelia was 20. Amelia died about 1980 aged 93 I think. They had separated soon after their third child was born and I don't know what happened to him after that. Their children have all passed now. Their second child was born in Christchurch and I am her child. Amelia remarried at some stage to Charles Goodlad.
I really would love more information on Frederick Richard Woodly Perrin if any of the family know what and where he disappeared to.
I posted here in the hope that someone might know.

Hi Mackiwi,

There's a probate for Frederick PERRIN, a retired post master who died at Hastings. Will filed 4 August 1939 and held by Archives NZ Wellington office.

A Charles Ernest GOODLAD married a Amelia Constance Lill STEPHENS in 1928, folio 09393. Only match I could find to a Charles Goodlad. However, it must be her because a Amelia Constance Lili STEPHENS married Frederick PERRIN in 1907.

Regards, riley

Hi Mackiwi, Riley

The Hastings Cemetery Database has that 1939 Frederick on it - it also says the more precise area - I suppose Cemetery?  was Havelock North. There is also a Louisa PERRIN in same place, date of burial 1938. There are two PERRINS also in the 1970's in Hastings,

I can't get the site to open up the further details of the entries - either my PC or their website:   Sad
http://www.hdc.govt.nz/cem/cemetery_home.html

Do you know the names of his parents? There are a few PERRIN researchers out there with WEllington connections (Google) - maybe might lead to him that way too?

Cheers

Ambly
Frederick's parents were John Perrin (painter) and Agnes Dudson  on his marriage certificate. I can't get any further than the list of names for the cemetery either.
Helen 52 I haven't been able to access page 5. I found a list of 3 on 1 page but not him. Still trying.

Thank you all for your efforts so far, this morning I know more about him than I ever have. All my life he was a name only, so nice to give him a life and a personality to go with it.
Looking forward to further comments.

I MUST try Google more often!
Search parameters: "perrin family wellington nz"

Mackiwi, there is a PERRIN family webpage;
http://groups.msn.com/PerrinFamilyNewZealand

A Charles PERRIN appears in the Wairarapa Times/Age;
http://wairarapa.co.nz/times-age/weekly/perrin.html

A PERRIN appears in the Dictionary of NZ Biography;
http://www.dnzb.govt.nz/dnzb/default.asp?Find_Quick.asp?PersonEssay=5P22

A PERRIN family emigrated to NZ in 1875 on the Berar. This essay is by a Perrin descendant and mentions a Fred aged 12 and although I doubt he's yours they may be related;
http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~ourstuff/BerarPerrinFamily.htm

And very serendipitous is this link to the Friends of the Bolton Street Memorial Park (Wellington's pioneer cemetery) http://groups.msn.com/boltonstcemetery/boltonsthomepage.msnw
The burial list is available from a Mr Nick PERRIN, n.perrin@xtra.co.nz although the page was last updated in 2004, so this email address may be defunct. If you get no reply let me know and I'll try to hunt him down. I'm not suggesting your ancestors may be buried there, but it might be worth checking.

Happy hunting, riley

Hi MacKiwi

There is this site, mentioning, not Frederick - but his parents a number of times - if it's any use (unless it's your site ! Grin)

http://nzgenealogy.rootschat.net/perrin.html

It may be worth emailing the keepers of the hastings cemetery records to let them know there is a problem with the site and ask for the details of those burials....?

Cheers

Re Archway   http://archway.archives.govt.nz/SimpleSearchResults.do  just put the surname in there - no christian name. there are 7 pages of Perrins

Re the hastings cemetery - I'm afraid that's it.  There is no more information to be had. Some have a headstone picture, but the havelock ones don't seem to be photographed yet

Hi MacKiwi
That site I found lastly, looking again....it may mention Frederick after all - did you notice: there is a Richard Frederick PERRIN listed with birthdate to John PERRIN  the painter and wife Agnes, Kaiapoi........

I still think there is a problem with the Cemetery site - with their java scripting for pop-ups - should be able to click on the name and see full details: Name, date of death, occupation, undertaker and purchaser of plot. Seperately, should be able to view headstone image if there is one (even the one with a headstone doesn't work). I have emailed them in interests of all Hastings researchers to ask them to look into it - will post response!

Cheers

Hi MacKiwi

You mean 4 children on that site whch lists Richard Frederick? Yes  Grin I think so - and - I think probably all the entries are related somehow, at the very least, I think John PERRIN's brother was the James PERRIN, wheelright, who married Elizabeth BRACKEN and had among their children listed, a Frances Mary Woodley PERRIN...!  I'm thinking you will end up finding your Frederick Richard Woodley PERRIN's paternal Grandmother was a WOODLEY? And what about the child of James and Elizabeth named "Alfonzo" ?

Cheers

Hi Ambly,
Yes I spotted that Woodly and the same thought occurred to me.
It is such a shame that NZ doesn't have the same site as Scotland.
It is a pay site but such fun to explore and find Certificates yourself.

Now about " Alfonzo"  pass, but if anyone knows who he belongs to lets share.
