George Augustus BROGRAVE - born Hopton

Looking for any info on George Augustus BROGRAVE born Hopton abt 1799. He married Mary ---? from King Stanley, not sure where that is though. They lived in Bath & Clevedon at different times. I have run into a brick wall. Can anyone shed some light please??

Thanks Carol, yes I did find that on the civil reg index. Ive also found him in the Pigots directory for Bath, but other than that he's proving rather elusive. I'd really love to know who his parents were, but I'm not sure how to find that info.

I think you have to trace him backwards and here's a small clue Grin
The 1871 census,when he's at 4 Atlantic East,Weston Super mare.

on RG10/2461 folio 97 page 47

George A Brograve 73  Hopton, Suffolk, England Head  Weston Super Mare  Fundholder??
Mary Brograve 70  Stanley Kings, Gloucestershire, England Wife  Weston Super Mare 
Mary Davis 26  Vailsen, Som Servant  Weston Super Mare 
Harriet Hole 49  Uffculme, Devon, England Servant  Weston Super Mare 
Frances C E L Randall 44  Queen St, Middlesex, England Servant  Weston Super Mare

Thats brilliant, thankyou! I have found him on the Clevedon census for 1861, so you finding him at Weston Super Mare in 1871 fills in the gap.
