Helen
From 1881 Census index:
Agnes MARTIN, Daughter, 11, Scholar, Glasgow, Lanark, Alexander MARTIN, Head, Married, 50, Mason, Campbellton, Argyll, Catherine MARTIN, Daughter, Unmarried, 19 Glasgow, Lanark, Scotland Frank MARTIN, Son, Unmarried, 17, Butcher, Glasgow, Lanark, Isabella MARTIN, Wife, Married, 54, Partick, Lanark, Scotland James MARTIN, Son, 9, Scholar, Glasgow, Lanark, Jessie MARTIN, Daughter, 13, Scholar, Glasgow, Lanark, Scotland.
We're into the land of the Mac/Mcs in Argyll for Agnes perhaps!
Regards.

There is only one birth showing in Campelltown circa 1830 for an Alexander Martin and that's on 19 Aug 1830 to an Alexander Martin and an Ann Watt. Two more entries +/- 5 yrs father not Alexander.

Just seen the Glasgow 1841 entry. I wonder if the Jane McAuley age 20 might be a sister (if parents died when he was young?)

How sure are we on Alexander's mother being Agnes? I'm sure I can see Alexander and wife Ann with big family incl. Alexander in Glasgow. All born outside of county. I think this is the family as per IGI entry.

Just been trying that site but could not find anything, I must be doing something wrong, this certainly looks
like them. Maybe I am a big slow but what does out of county mean? are they just working away from home
or moved locations?
