1851 census - Dalston COMPLETED
« on: Monday 01 May 06 20:47 BST (UK) »

Can someone please check the 1851 census for Dalston for me?

I have a Thomas Gardhouse born Dalston in 1855 - he is on the 1861 census in Haltwhistle as a boarder and I have no idea who his parents were.  His place of birth seems to read Dalston.

If someone could locate a Gardhouse family in that area for me, it would be a help.
Thank you

Hi Beegee,

On the 1861 census, I think the birthplace looks very much like Denton.

The IGI has a christening:

THOMAS GARDHOUSE
10 SEP 1854   Nether Denton, Cumberland
Mother  MARY GARDHOUSE

Any good?

Thank you both .......  I had an afterthought that it "might" be Denton on the 1861 and I'd spotted the IGI entry.  I have Mary on the 1861 at Thirlwell.
I appreciate your help though .... many thanks
