hi i have a
archibald marshall born 1788 in Torpichen,

when searching the only parents i can come up with for archi are

james marshall
and
margaret
hamelton.(this taken from scotlands people.)
both from torpichen

my problem is that on familysearch it has


james marshall and betty hamilton both from  Torpichen Cry

how do i pin down which  is the corect parents for my archibald

On IGI I can see an extracted entry from OPRs matching SP:

ARCHABALD MARSHALL     
     Christening:     19 JUN 1788      Torphichen, West Lothian, Scotland
   Parents: Father:  JAMES MARSHALL Mother: MARGRATE HAMELTON

I can't see the entry with Betty H?

There is a James and Betty/Elizabeth Hamilton couple around the same time but they're in Shotts, Lanarkshire having lots and lots of babies (34 entries, actual and submitted but no Archi)!

i think i might have got muddled up somewhere im so sorry to have wasted your time if i have.
doing the searches does get to be a bit addictive lol.
