PARISH - McLean & McDonald
« on: Wednesday 03 May 06 09:18 UTC (UK) »

I am trying to trace my family in the Dumbarton area.
Malcolm MCLEAN b 06/08/1885 married Catherine MCDONALD b 11/01/1884 on 21/03/1911 in Bonhill.
Also John MCDONALD b approx 1850 married Marian WILSON b approx 1852 but no other details.

Any help would be appreciated.

HI Lesley

In respect of John McDonald and Marion Wilson, the following children are showing for them IGI:

1. HUGH MCDONALD  Birth:01 OCT 1870 Strathblane, Stirling, Scotland
2. ELISABETH MCDONALD Birth: 08 SEP 1874 Kirkintilloch, Dunbarton, Scotland
3. ANDREW MCDONALD Birth: 10 AUG 1872 Kirkintilloch, Dunbarton, Scotland

There is also a marriage entry for a couple with these names coming up in Strathblane, Stirling in 1870 on Scotlands People.

Both the marriage and birth certificates, together with censuses up to 1901 are available to view on-line on Scotlands People. If you haven't used this site before or done any research in Scotland, it would be worthwhile you looking at the following guides here on Rootschat to help you before you begin, see links below.

You can also have a look at the marriage cert for Malcolm McLean and Catherine McDonald in 1911 (marriage certs available up to 1930/births up to 1905). Both marriage certs will give you details of who their parents were and this will help you move your research back a generation.
