I have Theobald/Tebble/Tibbel in my husband's family tree.  They originated from Borley in Essex.

I have looked at the Borely Theobalds but can't see a connection yet, at the moment I'm stuck at William Tibbel who married Sarah Willis in 1802 at Stebbing.  His age when buried would see him born circa 1776 "somewhere in Essex".  I found a William Theobald of Borely who raised my hopes for a few minutes but I'm pretty sure he married Sarah Theobald at Borely in 1803.  If you don't mind I would be interested in seeing how your husband's Borely Theobald line goes, I have quite a few Borely Theobald's in a database.  Regards.

Hello - my mother-in-laws family come from Borley - farthest back I have got is Joseph Theobald, who was father of Susannah Theobald, my mother-in-laws mother.  I have various details, including addresses, mainly relating to 1870/1880s.

Do you think they are one and the same?

Hi Christine,
Sorry I haven't replied sooner but it appears the notification mechanism is playing up, I have found several replies for which I received no notification.

To date I haven't found a Borley link but I can't discount it of course, at the moment I'm stuck on a William Tibbel/Theobald who was born circa 1776 in Essex.  I would not be at all surprised if I find a link to Borely if I ever get past the brick wall.  I have noted that in the IGI there are a lot of Theobalds located in northwest Essex and in particular on both sides of the Essex/Suffolk border.

I do have a couple of Josephs in my line.
Joseph of William and Sarah Tibbald (previously Tibbel) bap 13 Oct 1822 at Stebbing, Joseph is my gt gt grandfather.
Joseph of George and Sarah Theobald bap 24 may 1887 at Stebbing.

William and Sarah Tibbel also had a Susan bap 4 June 1826 but whether that means anything in the context of a link I'm not sure, that is the only Susan I have found in my line.

When do you think your Joseph was born?, I have a couple of Josephs in my "Spares" database.

Hi Christine:  I have Hart's in my family tree. They were from the Ilford area.  Gr Grandfather Henry, his wife Elizabeth several children, Elizabeth, Emma, Caroline, Mary Ann(my grandmother) Henry(Harry) George, Alfred, Jane and William.   I have just started my research and it is difficult as I am here in British Columbia.  My grandparents and my dad were the only family members to come to Canada.  Everyone else stayed in the U.K.  I don't recall ever hearing of a visit.  Hope we find a connection here, Alva

Hi Alva,
Christine doesn't mention having any Harts in her tree, so I'm assuming you meant to address your post to me.

What dates do you have for your Harts ?

My Hart line ends in 1813 when Sarah Hart married William Olley at  Chelmsford, Essex and so far I have got back to a John Hart & Jane who married around 1690.  I haven't found a link to the Harts in the Ilford/Romford area but I suspect that if there is one it would be in the !800s, considering the number of contacts I have had from people who are researching Harts in the mid 1800s and later around the Ilford/Romford area.
My earliest Harts were at Panfield Essex, from Panfield they migrated to Finchingfield, Essex, then to White Notley, Essex and finally to Chelmsford.  Sarah Hart had six brothers and six Hart uncles, with Chelmsford being not too far from Ilford there is a good chance one or more of the 12 Hart males may have gone to the Ilford area.  Having said that, if you search the IGI there are a great many Harts all over Essex.  Look forward to hearing from you.

Hi there:  Sorry it took me so long to get back to you.  I'm  still new at this.
So far I only know back as far as my great grandfather, Henry Hart born approx 1846 according to the 1881 census ,in  London Whitechapel.  His wife was Elizabeth, still searching for a maiden name.  Their children were Elizabeth 1867, Emma 1873, Caroline 1876(who later married a William Burren in 1875) Mary Ann 1877(my grandmother who married Albert Edward Mallett born in Poplar approx 1882), Henry(Harry)  1879, George 1880, Alfred 1886, Jane 1888 (who married Albert Piper in 1909) William 1890.  The address that I have for this family was 1 Dersingham Avenue yet on my grand mother's marriage certificate it is 3 Dersingham Avenue.  Most of the children were either born in London Bethnal Green or Essex Stratford.  In the 1901 it states that the father, Henry, was a dealer in horseflesh and I remember hearing this story several times.  What an occupation!!  I would really like to find some living relatives.  Since I live in British Columbia getting information is not easy.  My dad just passed away in 2001 at 94 1/2.  He was born Albert Edward Mallett in Ilford Jan 4, 1907.  I'm sure there might still be some cousins of his alive.  Any ideas how I could find out this info.  Thanks for taking the time to ready tis rather long note!! Hi Alva,
Sorry I can't be of help to you, I appreciate the problem you mentioned regarding obtaining info, I live in Australia.
You could try: -
Putting a post on the beginner's part of Rootschat, some experienced researchers with access to Censuses etc patrol that area looking for people with problems, probably the best place to get started.
Putting a new post on this board (Essex) with the heading HART, listing what names, dates & places etc you have which link to Essex.
The Lookups section of this (Essex) board might help.
Also try a post on the RootsChat London board.
If you live near a CLDS Family centre you could try there, they have copies of Censuses and Paris Registers etc.
If I think of anything else or come across anything useful I'll let you know and if you eventually move into the pre 1796 era contact me and we can compare names.

Hi Mick,
I haven't come across a Hatfield Broad Oak link to my Harris line but then I've done very little about the siblings of ancestors.
I'm pretty sure my line came from Suffolk to Coggeshall sometime between 1806 and 1831 and my line from 1831 were all born and baptised in Coggeshall.  I believe my earliest known ancestor Joseph Harris was born about 1806 in Little Coggeshall and baptised in Grundisburgh, Suffolk.  The 1851 census for Coggeshall gave his birthplace as Lt Coggeshall but his baptism was not found in any Coggeshall registers.  I believe his parents were Joseph Harris of Grundisburgh who married Ann Potter by licence at Coggeshall in 1804.  A census for Grundisburgh supplied the evidence the couple left soon after and went to Grundisburgh.  A lady on the Suffolk board offered to look for Joseph's baptism in the Grundisburgh PRs but I haven't heard anything yet.
If you get back to Coggeshall please contact me, I might have info to help you, I'm quite happy to share.
Regards
