london metro archives lookup please
« on: Saturday 06 May 06 05:27 UTC (UK) »

Is anyone near the london metro archives and able to do a lookup?
I am looking for a marriage of William Miller to a Mary in the late 1770`s early 1800`s.  One son was named Elisha Ginvey Miller so Marys maiden name may have been Ginvey.
I would be very grateful for any help. Cheers Pam

Sorry, Pam,

This is an impossible task without knowing the district for this marriage, there are no facilities for simply entering a name & finding a list of marriages.   A district has to be known then it has to be searched church by church on film for a range of about 20 years, covering 1790 to 1810.

Also, you know of a child, when was he born & where ?  This might give a clue as to where to begin looking for the marriage.

Have you tried the IGI ?

Hi Meliora. sorrry to be vague. The didtrict would be St MAry Lambeth. The IGI for St Mary Lambeth and some other London churches only starts around 1800. All prior records are apparently at London Metro Archives. Cheers. Pam
