1841 Census - CUNNINGHAM
« on: Saturday 06 May 06 12:49 UTC (UK) »

I haven't been able to find my Cunninghams in the 1841 census even though I know a few of them, and some facts about them.  I wonder if someone can help fill in my blanks....

David Cunningham married Isabel Henderson 1819 St Machan Ecclesmachen.
They are said to have some children:
Isabella 1929 Dalmeny, John C 1821 Linlithlow, Jane 1824 Ecclesmachen, Jane 1827 Ecclesmachan, Henrietta 1830, Janet 1833 Ecclesmachen.

I am guessing that there are a few other children??? There doesn't appear to be a son named David...  I also believe that the dad David died in Uphall in 1877.

-----

I also can't find his parents.
John Cunningham married Heneritta Wardlaw 1793.
They are said to have some children:
David 1794 Uphall, John 1796 Uphall, Margaret 1798 Uphall, Archibald 1802.

I am also guessing that there are some other children as there is no daughter named Heneritta?Huh I might also guess that John's father's name was David - if the family's naming patterns are correct???

The Uphall website is great - but I would love some help!

That's them Sherlock.

the only one you have listed that I can't place is:

HENRIETTA CUNNINGHAM - Gender: Female Birth: 1833 Dalmeny, West Lothian, Scotland

But she may be one of David's brothers' children.

Would you happen to know if St Machen Church is Prebyterian?  and whether there are any records from these times?

The Parish of Strathbrock was created in 1976 when the Parishes of Ecclesmachan (which had become vacant) and Uphall North were united by West Lothian Presbytery. The new parish is a mixture of rural and lightly urban land stretching from the farmlands of Bangour through the villages of Ecclesmachan and Uphall. As a result of boundary changes part of Dechmont and the hamlet of Threemiletown were lost but the housing areas of North West Broxburn were added. The Parish has two beautiful old Churches steeped in history;
St Machan in Ecclesmachan and St Nicholas in Uphall. The congregational roll is approximately 440 members.

The  church can be contacted, see http://www.strathbrockparish.net/contacts.html
