Hello I have finally found out what my uncle Wilfred's surname was - WHILEMAN and he was born 1898 Clay Cross. He married my mother's sister, Lily SAUNDERS, in Greenwich in 1918, but they lived in the Wingfield area Derbys after their marriage. Unfortunately, the two sisters did not get on too well and Lily was 20 years older than my mother, so there was no contact with them for me as a child, although I do have one of Lily's wedding photos. I would dearly like to know whether Wilfred and Lily had any children who would be my cousins.
I am obviously now also trying to research Wilfred's family, so if anyone has any information about him- his father was Frank, mother probably Mary Elizabeth SMITH - I would love to hear from you. Regards Vicwinann

Hey
I have a family of Whileman's from Clay Cross.
My grandma was a Whileman before she got married. I think theres two Whileman family's in Clay Cross because i got a bit confused when searching mine.
My Grandma was Irene Whileman b.1927
her mother and father were Sam Whileman b. 1901 and Lily Hardwick b.1902
Sam's father was George Whileman b.1858
and his father was also called George b.1816.
My grandma said she had an Auntie Florrie who married a John May from matlock and a Auntie Nellie who married a Foster. Thats were it got confusing.
I still ain't 100% sure weather i go the right family yet.
if you could write back and tell me if you recognize any names then that would be great.
Cheers
